A Really Bright Idea
TCP Raising Funds for the Rainforest
TCP, the world's largest manufacturer of CFLs (compact fluorescent lamps) is teaming up with Cleveland Metroparks Zoo to help save the rainforests.
The Importance of Rainforests
More than half of all known plant and animal species call the tropical rain forest home. As many as 200 different species of trees may grow in one acre of rain forest, supporting thousands of species of plants and animals. These tropical forests serve as regulators of the earth's climate and as sources of medicines and foodstuffs. They are also sanctuaries of not-yet-discovered plant and animal species that could lead not only to a greater appreciation of the natural world, but also to future medical, agricultural, and genetic discoveries.
Raising Funds
The Zoo is currently raising funds in support of two important South American rain forest projects. The Adopt-a-School program provides educational materials and supplies for schools in rural areas of Peru along the Amazon River. The Balsa de los Sapos project in Ecuador aids in the rehabilitation, reproduction and release of endangered amphibian species, in hopes of restoring dwindling populations. Both projects are doing important work to help preserve tropical rainforests and the species that live there.
How can you help?
It's simple. Through TCP's "Raising Funds for the Rain Forest" campaign, you can help save the rain forest and the environment at the same time. From now through December 31, 2008, log on to TCP's website www.tcpi.com and click on the "Click, Save & Raise" button. Enter promo code: CLEMETZOO. For every package of CFLs purchased, TCP will donate $3.00 to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's RainForest fund.
